"The secret things belong to the Lord our God..."

  Deuteronomy 29:29

God's knowledge falls into two categories: what He keeps secret in His own breast, and what He has revealed to mankind. God has spoken through His prophets and apostles, including His own Son Jesus Christ, and we have the Holy Scriptures which are the Word of God which we call the Bible, which means The Book. There we can read what God intends for us to know about Himself and about ourselves. One of the facts God wants us to know about Himself is that He does not reveal all that He knows, all His intentions and purposes. There are things which God keeps to Himself. Man does not have the right to know whatever his curiosity craves to know. God is God and man is man, and God will maintain His rights over man. Our responsibility is not to require God to give an account to us for His reasons for His actions, many of which may forcibly impact our lives. Rather, God would have us to live in submission to Him trusting in His righteousness and wisdom. Rather than seeking to know what God has kept secret, we are to read and learn what God has revealed. And we are to understand why God has revealed these things to mankind. We read, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” God gave us His Word that we might “do” or obey the commandments of His law. Our curiosity should be asking, “What does God want me to do?” We should be curious not for God's reasons but for God's commandments. “Then they said unto Him, 'What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?' Jesus answered and said unto them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.'” John 8:29,30. God has revealed in the Bible the way of salvation, the way to have sins forgiven, the way to have a new heart which loves what is right rather than what is sinful, the way to escape the punishment we deserve for our sins, the way to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus' obedience for sinners and Jesus' death for sinners is that way. And that is what God has revealed to us. God knows what we need to know; He has graciously revealed what is to make us wise unto salvation. "
