"... their sin I will remember no more."

  Jeremiah 31:34

God remembers all of our sins until we seek His forgiveness in the way He has appointed. When we do so, He has promised to forgive us our sins which is to remember them no more. For God to remember our sin no more is for Him never to resurrect them as reasons to punish us for our disobedience. Each of our sins does deserve God's wrath and curse both in this life and that which is to come. But He has graciously given His word (and it is impossible for God to lie) that He will remember our sin no more if we duly seek His forgiveness. Sadly, many people think that God never remembers our sins even if we do not seek His forgiveness. Their view of the nature of God is that He is so compassionate and loving that He would not think of bringing suffering and torment to anyone for his sin. Such a view willingly overlooks the righteousness of God and His righteousness in His dealings with mankind. It is right that we should obey God. It is right that God should insist on being obeyed. It is right that God should not allow His authority to be despised and disregarded by sinners. It is right that God should punish those who do not repent of and confess their sin. It is also right (and very gracious) that God should desire to save sinful men from what they deserve. It is right and gracious that God should send His Son to be a Substitute for sinners, to perfectly obey His law in their place, and to suffer His wrath in their place, for their sins, for their salvation. It is right and gracious for this Substitute to love lost sinners and willingly give Himself up to satisfy Divine justice for their transgressions. It is right for sinners to humble themselves, repent of their sins, receive the offered salvation by trusting in the One whom God has sent to redeem them from the righteous penalty of their sins. It is right and gracious for God to remember no more the sins of those whose sins have been punished in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. "Christ also suffered once for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God." "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." "In whom we have redemption, through His blood, forgiveness of sins."
