It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen..."

  Romans 8:34

The significance of the death and resurrection of Christ cannot be understood without reference to the sins of men and women, boys and girls. All of our sins are acts of disobedience, and to be disobedient is to be insubordinate, unsubmissive, rebellious. When we sin we reject and ignore God's authority over us; we then live as we please, not as we ought. This is not right. And God is righteous. Because He is righteous, He does not tolerate sin to go unpunished. It is right that sinners be punished by God for their sins, and God has punished, is punishing, and shall punish sinners for their sins. God's authority means little to humans, but it means much to God. God upholds His authority over mankind to mankind's great displeasure. There is isn't anything mankind hates more than to hear of their sins and the everlasting suffering God shall bring upon them for those sins. But while God is righteous, He is also love. He intends (and all He intends, He accomplishes) to save an innumerable multitude of sinners out of every nation, kindred, tongue, and tribe. "You shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins." Matthew 1:21. "Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures." I Corinthians 15:3. God saves believing and repentant sinners from the punishment they deserve, not by ignoring their sins, but by punishing them in the person of His only begotten Son. "God did not spare His own Son." Romans 8:32. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16. The crucifixion of Christ, who loved the church and willingly gave Himself for it, is the sacrifice to which all the Old Testament animal sacrifices pointed. He is the only Lamb of God who can take away the sin of the world. God will not condemn repentant believing sinners. Why? "It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen." God manifested His acceptance of His Son's sacrifice of Himself for sinners by raising Him from the dead, and giving all authority in heaven and earth to Him. "He rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures." I Corinthians 15:3. God punished every sin. His wrath will be manifest in hell for all who do not believe on His Son; His wrath has been manifest at the cross of Christ for all who do believe on Christ. God is righteous.
