"He seals the hand of every man, that all men may know His work"
Job 37:7

Whether or not anyone is able to go to work on a given day is completely dependent on the will of God. When God seals the hand of a man, He closes the opportunity for work. So when God seals the hand of a man, He prevents that man from performing his labor. God may cause the man to be imprisoned, or bedfast, or cause the company for which the man works to close, or there may be a power outage due to God's sending a storm. In the above text from Job we read: "For He (God) says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth;' likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength. He seals the hand of every man, that all men may know His work." When God commands much snow or floods of rain, men are prevented from performing their work that they might notice and know God's work. There is no farming in the fields during winter for God has frozen the ground by commanding the temperatures to fall. The point is that God is in control of all of His creatures and all of their actions. Jesus said that God "makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain on the just and on the unjust." He also said, "Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will." We read of God's control of His creatures in the account of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt in the plagues God sent by afflicting Egypt with His creatures, the frogs, lice, flies, hail, locusts. He also sealed the Egyptians' hands from labor when He smote them with boils, and later with darkness. He has caused the sun and moon to stand still, and sent hornets to rid His people of their enemies; He uses strong winds and flooding rains to give victory in battles of war. "Stormy wind, fulfilling His word." (Psalm 148:8). God teaches us through Job (37:13) that He does all these things "whether for correction, or for His land, or for mercy." "O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!" We must trace events back to the Almighty.
