“… through the blood of His cross.”
Colossians 1:20

There can be no peace with God when we are at peace with our sins. So long as men or women, boys or girls remain in harmony with sin, God will remain at enmity with them. Our sins are offensive to God as they reveal our defiance of His authority over us and of His warnings to us. Until we are reconciled to God we live in a state of mutual enmity: so long as we refuse to submit to His authority, we remain under His wrath. “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” How then can this enmity between us sinners and God be removed? How can peace and reconciliation be established in light of our many sins and shameful guilt? Peace with God can only be obtained by payment for sin. God does not forgive sins by a simple act of will. Nor does He pretend not to notice our sins. God’s righteousness requires that our sins be punished (it would not be right for sin to go unpunished), but His love and grace provides a Savior (the Lord Jesus ) who is able to make satisfaction in our place. Forgiveness of the sinner is based upon the sufferings and death of the divine Savior and is given to all who trust in Christ and are willing to repent (forsake their sins). Dear reader, the only way for anyone to be reconciled to God is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who “made peace through the blood of His cross.” If we valued things rightly, we should not be able to rest until we were assured that God is our friend.
