"A false balance is an abomination to the LORD ..."
Proverbs 11:1

If a merchant sells a pound of meat or a gallon of gasoline, the weights and measures must conform to the standards established by the government. To falsify the scale to the seller's advantage is to steal some of the buyer's money. This, according to the Holy Spirit, is an abomination to God.

A laborer sells his labor for money. If the laborer contrives to receive the contracted amount of money without working the contracted amount of time, he is using a false balance. An hour is sixty minutes, not fity. A coffee break is fifteen minutes not twenty-five. To cheat an employer of working time is no different than to sell twelve ounces as if it were a pound.

Friend, there are innumerable tricks and deceits which men practice in order to cheat and steal from each other. No doubt many of these deceits go undetected by men. However, there is One who sees every act of dishonesty committed. His balance by which He weighs men is altogether true and accurate. And to every impenitent and unbelieving thief He shall say on the last day, "You are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting." Daniel 5:27.

Dear Reader, all of our sins arouse God's righteous anger. We stand in need of being saved from the penalty and the bondage of our sins. It was for this that Jesus Christ came into the world, to save sinners from the wrath they deserve and to make them honest and godly people. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever belives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." "Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near." Isaiah 55:6
