“… saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace.”

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son.” These words from the Bible describe the Old and New Testaments; in the former God spoke by the prophets, and in the latter He spoke by His Son, Jesus Christ. God’s Word through these spokesmen is true and trustworthy. What God spoke was not intended to flatter us, but to humble us. God’s message is not that we are righteous and worthy of His love, but that we are wicked and worthy of His wrath. He promises mercy and forgiveness to all who will repent of their sins and obey His Son, but He threatens His severe wrath to all who refuse His offers of grace. But do you realize that the message of many religious leaders is the opposite of that just described? These flatter sinners and make them feel good about themselves and assure them that on judgment day God will accept everyone and punish no one. The prophet Ezekiel wrote of such false prophets, describing their message as one of assurance, who said, ’Peace!’ when there was no peace. Men and women want to believe that they can live as they please and yet enjoy peace with God on judgment day. But the Bible contradicts this on its every page. Sadly, false teachers abound who flatter rather than humble, deceive rather than warn. It is the responsibility of everyone to compare what ministers teach with what the Bible says. Friend, when the doctrines of sin and hell are avoided in the pulpit, it leads to the everlasting doom of those in the pew.
Beware of those who suffocate these vital truths in silence, which God has spoken.
