"What are you seeking?"
Genesis 37:15

Here is a worthy question. "What are you seeking?" We seek what we desire. But we, by nature, do not have the right desires. We seek what we think we need. But we wrongly prioritize our needs and misjudge them. How often have we found what we were seeking, only to discover that it did not bring us what we expected! The satisfaction of finding was short-lived, setting off another search. Life is a search, but in ourselves we really do not seek the right Object. Deep down we know what we should seek, but we neither desire, nor feel we need That. Here is a related question: What is God seeking? Jesus tells us the answer: "... the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him." God is seeking worshippers. He is seeking men and women, boys and girls, to trust Him, love Him, obey Him, submit to Him, praise Him, proclaim Him, imitate Him, be conformed to Him. The God of heaven is so great, so majestic, so holy, so wise, so powerful, so sovereign, so righteous, so good, so compassionate, so merciful, so glorious that He is worthy of being sought by every person. He is more than sufficient to inspire awe and wonder and joy in every heart, to cause everyone to say, "my cup runs over." In Him there is no disappointment; all finders have infinitely more than they expected. But -- "what are you seeking?" Hear God's testimony of the human race: "There is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God." Jesus came "to seek and to save that which was lost." When we seek after God, He is really seeking after us. He shows us that Jesus is the Way to peace with God.
